#callforpapers #workshop #OxfordPatristicConference "Maximus the Confessor and His World: History, Theology, and Philosophy."

Dear collagues,
I hope this message finds you well.

Together with Karolina Kochańczyk-Bonińska and Kevin Clarke, I am organizing a proposed workshop for the next Oxford Patristic Conference entitled "Maximus the Confessor and His World: History, Theology, and Philosophy."

The workshop aims to bring together scholars working on the historical, theological, philosophical, philological, and literary dimensions of Maximus's thought and his intellectual milieu. It will consist of three thematic sessions devoted to (1) Maximus in his historical context, (2) the theological world of his time, and (3) his engagement with ancient philosophy and the development of Christian metaphysics.

We warmly invite proposals from scholars at all career stages. Please submit a paper title, an abstract of up to 300 words, and a brief biographical note (up to 100 words).
Submission deadline: 31 July 2026

Please send proposals to:

Authors of accepted papers will be notified by 7 August 2026.

The full Call for Papers is attached. We would be delighted to receive your proposal and would be grateful if you could also share the call with colleagues or advanced doctoral students who may be interested.

We very much hope you will consider participating and look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes, Vladimir Cvetković
