Ascesis, silencio y huida. Experiencias del abandono del mundo en los Padres de la Iglesia.

La tajante oposición esgrimida en el Evangelio de Juan sobre el antagonismo entre Jesús y el mundo provocó intensas reflexiones acerca del lugar de los creyentes en el orden político y económico vigente. El llamado a la misión y la conversión de las gentes exigió que los Padres de la Iglesia se preguntasen acerca de las maneras más apropiadas de vivir, testimoniar y transmitir la Buena Noticia sin contaminarse por el ritmo y las costumbres de la sociedad grecorromana. Si bien el matrimonio y la vida familiar gozaron de alta estima entre las iglesias, la huida al desierto, la renuncia sexual, el ayuno y la vida austera emergieron como expresiones de profunda piedad, pero también de disconformidad y de profilaxis hacia una sociedad a veces hostil y, luego del triunfo de Constantino (como dice Peter Brown), no lo suficientemente cristiana.

Estas VIII Jornadas de Estudios Patrísticos tienen como fin recuperar, analizar y debatir las diversas expresiones de renuncia al mundo propuestas por los escritores de la Patrística a partir de la comprensión de las coyunturas sociales, económicas y teológicas particulares que se dieron en la Antigüedad Clásica, la Antigüedad Tardía y la Edad Media.

Convocamos entonces a las distintas disciplinas del amplio campo de los estudios filosóficos, teológicos, históricos, lingüísticos y artísticos a compartir sus aportes de acuerdo a estas coordenadas:

-       Historia del monasticismo

-       Escritos de los padres y madres del desierto

-       Las órdenes mendicantes

-       La exégesis en los movimientos monásticos

-       Teología de la renuncia al mundo

-       El ayuno y la limosna como prácticas promovidas por los monjes

-       Arte e iconografía

-       Monacato, política eclesial y política secular

Esperamos que vuestra respuesta a nuestra convocatoria preliminar, nos ayude a continuar tendiendo puentes para esa “fusión de horizontes”, tan necesaria en la búsqueda del equilibrio y la vitalidad de las Cs. de la Religiones y las Humanidades todas, misión que hemos emprendido desde esta Biblioteca de los Agustinos en Argentina a partir del año 2009 en ocasión de la Primera Jornada de Estudios Patrísticos.

Envíe un título y un resumen de la comunicación propuesta (150–200 palabras) a bibcisao@gmail.com antes del 6 de Abril de 2023. Los oradores aceptados serán notificados a fines del mes de Abril de 2023.

Ascesis, silence and flight. Experiences of the abandonment of the world in the Fathers of the Church.

The sharp opposition brandished in the Gospel of John about the antagonism between Jesus and the world provoked intense reflections about the place of believers in the current political and economic order. The call to the mission and the conversion of the people demanded that the Fathers of the Church ask themselves about the most appropriate ways of living, witnessing and transmitting the Good News without being contaminated by the rhythm and customs of Greco-Roman society. Although marriage and family life enjoyed high esteem among the churches, fleeing into the desert, sexual renunciation, fasting, and an austere life emerged as expressions of profound piety, but also of discontent and prophylaxis towards a society that was sometimes hostile and, after the triumph of Constantine (as Peter Brown says), not Christian enough.

These VIII Conference on Patristic Studies are intended to recover, analyze and debate the various expressions of renouncing the world proposed by the writers of Patristics based on the understanding of the particular social, economic and theological situations that occurred in Classical Antiquity, Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages.

- History of monasticism

- Writings of the fathers and mothers of the desert

- The mendicant orders

- Exegesis in monastic movements

- Theology of abandonment of the world

- Fasting and almsgiving as practices promoted by monks

- Art and iconography

- Monasticism, ecclesial politics and secular politics

 

We hope that your response to our preliminary call will help us to continue building bridges for that "fusion of horizons", so necessary in the search for balance and vitality of the Cs. of all Religions and Humanities, a mission that we have undertaken from this Library of the Augustinians in Argentina since 2009 on the occasion of the First Conference of Patristic Studies.
