Mensaje de Navidad Dra. Patricia Ciner President of AIEP-IAPS




Dear Colleagues,

It goes without saying that this 2020 has been very difficult for everyone. However, in the midst of the pain, almost like a flower among weeds, there have reappeared ideas much used by the patristic authors, such as the theological and metaphysical notions of the Mystical Body of Christ and that of Unity. Perhaps never before have these notions had such force and life for humanity as they do now, showing that we are a mystical body suffering with the pain of every human being. On behalf of the AIEP Executive Committee, we fervently hope that these powerful intuitions of the Holy Fathers, and of the patristic authors in general, will accompany us all this Christmas and holiday season and help us to become aware of the Unity that lives within each of us.

Teólogos católicos del siglo XX: Hans Urs von Balthasar “el infierno existe, pero quizás está vacío”

Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905 – 1988), fue uno de los más grandes teólogos católicos del siglo XX. Discípulo de Romano Guardini, se ordenó jesuita en 1936, abandonando la Compañía en 1950. Tuvo grandes discrepancias con la jerarquía, por lo que no fue invitado al Concilio Vaticano II. Fue reconocido ampliamente luego del mismo, fundando junto a Henri de Lubac (teólogo jesuita) y Joseph Ratzinger, la revista “Communio”. SS Juan Pablo II lo nombró cardenal, pero fue llamado por el Señor dos días antes de la ceremonia, el 26 de Junio de 1988 ¿Qué era para Balthasar la Teología ? Según Stratforf Caldecott (*) “Theology, Balthasar believed, is supposed to be the study of the fire and light that burn at the centre of the world. Theologians had reduced it to the turning of pages in a desiccated catalogue of ideas — a kind of butterfly collection for the mind”. Marco Aurelio, el emperador cristiano que no fue...

Un 26 de Abril del año 121 de nuestra era, nacía uno de los últimos buenos emperadores que dio Roma: Marco Aurelio Antonino Augusto, representante de la denominada “escuela estoica” de Filosofía. La educación juvenil de este monarca fue muy esmerada, con preceptores tales como Diogneto, Apolonio, Frontón, Alejandro el Platónico o Cátulo. Sería lícito acotar que durante esta época, hubo una renovación de la cultura griega, en especial a través de la Segunda Sofística , que también apelaba a la “retórica” para atraer vastos auditorios. Marco Aurelio, finalmente desdeñó la misma, a contra corriente de la moda de su tiempo. Casi un misterio indescifrable: por qué Marco Aurelio no abrazó o al menos no persiguió al cristianismo que venía asomándose a la luz de la Historia. La respuesta quizá la tiene U.
